Utah Car Insurance

Living you Utah, you must have at least the minimum amount of car insurance to be legal when driving down any public road. As with anything, you should shop around to make sure you are getting the best possible coverage at a rate you can afford. By law you must carry a car insurance policy with limits of at least 25/50/15 in coverage, as well as, personal injury protection(PIP), and uninsured motorist coverage. Just because these are the required coverages for the state, does not mean these are the only coverages that are available. Many car insurance agents will tell you and recommend to you, to obtain more than just the required amount of car insurance. You can also add comprehensive and collision coverage. If you are needing to save money, you can raise your deductible, the amount you agree to pay before your car insurance company takes over, that way your monthly premiums will be less.
The state of Utah is know for operating on an honor system. Although you should keep a copy of your car insurance identification card in your vehicle at all times, the state has a software system that will match your registration to your car insurance. So if you were to go and get your vehicle registered, but the system shows that your car insurance policy has expired you will not be able to register your vehicle, and you can face fines starting at $400. This is also considered a Class B Misdemeanor, you will have to settle in courts, pay fines, and often times lose your privileges to drive. To learn more please contact an agent at 866-526-9669.
