Laws About Auto Insurance

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Laws can be confusing sometimes. How much coverage is you required to have? What is the minimum amount? Do you have to have liability? What if you drive to other states? The questions are endless and it can be confusing at times.

Your agent is the best source of information. They have access to all the state laws for insurance and will be able to lead you in the right way. It’s their job to know these things and they get paid for your safety. Before you call them be sure to write down your inquiries so they can answer them promptly and you don’t have to call them back.

Each state will have specifics that must be followed when it involves your insurance coverage. Full coverage will cover injury to people, cars and property. Some states may only require coverage involving people. This is liability insurance. If you damage a car, then you must pay out of pocket for damages to your car, but insurance will probably pay for the other car.

If you are going to travel out of state, check out what auto insurance coverage you will need. Call the rep of your insurance company and verify the coverage you need. Be sure if you are traveling through multiple states, find the strictest one and change your coverage to that one for the time being.

States have different liability laws involving motor cycles and scooters. If you’re strapped for cash and you can’t afford insurance, simply check out the state’s laws about these vehicles. In Washington, you don’t need insurance to drive a motorcycle.

All states require you to carry auto insurance proof on you at all times. When pulled over if you don’t provide proof, you will get a ticket and have to contest it in court. Simply bring the proof to the judge and you should get acquitted. If not, it’s a hefty fine.

As a driver, it is your responsibility to know the laws you are driving under. Remember that a drivers license, hence driving itself, is considered a privilege rather than a right.

Is Anyone Else Sick Of Seeing Insurance Adverts Everywhere You Go?

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Driving up the M6 a couple of weeks ago I couldn’t help but notice the amount of lorries on the road, not just the little ones but the huge ones too. Here’s a lorry carrying building supplies, here’s another with a oil container on the back, another one with nothing on at all and of course the supermarket one offering cheap insurance deals. I don’t think he had particularly cheap insurance deals on the rear of his truck but he did appear to be advertising their availability above everything else that his employer had to offer.

At least this sort of advertising is completely restricted to the outside trucks and lorries at the moment. I wonder what it will be like later on? Will we see cheap truck insurance advertised on the side of aeroplanes, will our commuter trains be liveried with the logos of insurance dealers offering cheap insurance?

What is this obsession with cheap insurance anyway? Everywhere you look they are offering us cheap insurance aren’t they? On the telly, on the tube, on our petrol pumps, even when we’re relieving ourselves at the service station there is the advert staring us in the face. “Aim higher for cheap truck insurance!”

Is it me or does it seem that simply insurance is sold with such intensity? You don’t very often see adverts for chocolate biscuits or the latest sofa sale at DFS in motorway service station toilets do you? Is the little puppy with the toilet paper staring out at us from the rear of a (cheaply insured) truck? No, I’m pretty sure he’s not.

Perhaps it is the very fact that these advertisements for insurance are focused towards us when we feel at our most vulnerable that makes the people in insurance advertising consider that they will work. The poor guy in his little car, overshadowed by a huge great beast of a lorry and its insurance ads might be more receptive to a cheap deal.

Next time you are out and about on the motorway, have a look and discover how many cheap insurance deals are being offered to you. You will have adverts on the sides of trucks, in fields, in toilets, on petrol pumps, bins and magazines. There will be adverts for cheap insurance on the radio and on the TV screens in the service stations. There might even be a cheap truck insurance sales person sitting beside you now as you sip your well earned cuppa in the Watford Gap services. Cheap insurance is all around, let’s hope in the interest of our youngsters that the idea doesn’t catch on!

If you are in fact looking for some sort of insurance at the moment, then it would be well worth getting an experienced broker to secure you a deal such as those at Coversure. Whether you’re after truck insurance or caravan insurance Coversure have great relationships with countless insurance providers and can secure you a great deal.
