How To Lower Your 4×4 Insurance Premiums

Friday, July 30th, 2010

4×4 vehicles are notorious for having higher insurance premiums than other vehicles. Although it may come as a surprise at first, 4×4 are considered by many insurance companies as a higher risk vehicle. To counter these hazards insurance companies charge higher premiums. There are several things you can do to avoid these higher rates and obtain a more manageable monthly insurance premium. While using these techniques, it is still very important that you shop around for the best quotes you can find.

If you have a garage or underground parking then you will be able to help lower your premium. This is because a vehicle that?s parked indoors is less likely to get singled out for theft or vandalism. The insurance company will be able to reduce your rates if you?re able to reduce the risk of something happening to your vehicle.

Drivers looking for lower insurance rates should also try to get some experience by driving a 4×4 beforehand. Luckily this does not necessarily mean you have to own one before you get insurance. Try driving around a friend or family member?s car for a bit to become familiar with the specific type of handling required. While sitting down with your agent you can tell them that you already have experience with such vehicles and are less likely to get into an accident.

Keeping your driving record clean is always an important part to getting low insurance rates. The fewer claims you have on your record, the better. If an insurance agent sees you already have several different claims they will charge you even more for insurance just because you are at a higher risk. If you manage to go for a period of time without any claims you may subject for a claims bonus, a discount given to drivers after about a year of claims-free driving. Mention that you this and your insurance agent will work to get you the best rates possible. Sometimes you may want to pay for an accident yourself just to save money that may add up to more if spend on increased rates from claims. This only works if the accident was very small and with little damage.

By getting a 4×4 with a category 1 or 2 security rating you may end up getting lower rates as well. These categories indicate that your 4×4 is equipped with the finest safety features, making it harder to steal and safer in accidents. Your agents will look for these extra features while gauging your insurance premiums to determine the risk of your vehicle. Opt for the best security possible when choosing your vehicle.

Last but not least, military personal are among the few who receive top notch 4×4 auto insurance rates. These special rates include the National Guard and will deduct a percentage of the costs. Those who are not in the military have to find the best rates by looking around as much as possible. Before going to companies check online to discover what your quote is. This saves you the time of driving around to every individual insurance company.

Is Anyone Else Sick Of Seeing Insurance Adverts Everywhere You Go?

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Driving up the M6 a couple of weeks ago I couldn’t help but notice the amount of lorries on the road, not just the little ones but the huge ones too. Here’s a lorry carrying building supplies, here’s another with a oil container on the back, another one with nothing on at all and of course the supermarket one offering cheap insurance deals. I don’t think he had particularly cheap insurance deals on the rear of his truck but he did appear to be advertising their availability above everything else that his employer had to offer.

At least this sort of advertising is completely restricted to the outside trucks and lorries at the moment. I wonder what it will be like later on? Will we see cheap truck insurance advertised on the side of aeroplanes, will our commuter trains be liveried with the logos of insurance dealers offering cheap insurance?

What is this obsession with cheap insurance anyway? Everywhere you look they are offering us cheap insurance aren’t they? On the telly, on the tube, on our petrol pumps, even when we’re relieving ourselves at the service station there is the advert staring us in the face. “Aim higher for cheap truck insurance!”

Is it me or does it seem that simply insurance is sold with such intensity? You don’t very often see adverts for chocolate biscuits or the latest sofa sale at DFS in motorway service station toilets do you? Is the little puppy with the toilet paper staring out at us from the rear of a (cheaply insured) truck? No, I’m pretty sure he’s not.

Perhaps it is the very fact that these advertisements for insurance are focused towards us when we feel at our most vulnerable that makes the people in insurance advertising consider that they will work. The poor guy in his little car, overshadowed by a huge great beast of a lorry and its insurance ads might be more receptive to a cheap deal.

Next time you are out and about on the motorway, have a look and discover how many cheap insurance deals are being offered to you. You will have adverts on the sides of trucks, in fields, in toilets, on petrol pumps, bins and magazines. There will be adverts for cheap insurance on the radio and on the TV screens in the service stations. There might even be a cheap truck insurance sales person sitting beside you now as you sip your well earned cuppa in the Watford Gap services. Cheap insurance is all around, let’s hope in the interest of our youngsters that the idea doesn’t catch on!

If you are in fact looking for some sort of insurance at the moment, then it would be well worth getting an experienced broker to secure you a deal such as those at Coversure. Whether you’re after truck insurance or caravan insurance Coversure have great relationships with countless insurance providers and can secure you a great deal.

Driving With No Insurance: It Is Just Not Worth It

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Driving with no insurance is a very dangerous thing to do. It might save someone a few dollars each month but if they are pulled over the consequences will definitely outweigh saving just a few dollars. It is illegal and could be very costly. Yes, there is a slight chance that the driver will not get puller over, but if they do, it could be life changing.

Taking this chance is not worth it. Driving with financial responsibility just makes the ride from point A to point B much smoother and with a lot less worries.

Driving without being insured is very costly. If found guilty of driving without insurance there will be many penalties to face. Some of which include court imposed fines that can range anywhere from 100-1000 dollars. Many courts also reserve the right to seize the drivers vehicle tags as well as the vehicle itself. And getting the car out of impound will cost even more money. Some courts have zero tolerance for someone who was caught without proof of insurance they will just be sent to jail.

If a person is pulled over without insurance, that person may have to attend court in order to provide the proof of insurance that shows validity on the date the driver was ticketed. If this cannot be produced, then the driver will incur penalties that will stay on their driving record for up to ten years depending on the state. And if there was an accident involved it could be a criminal offense which will be on their driving record forever.

However, if they was involved in an accident as opposed to being pulled over, the consequences will be much worse if they has no insurance. If there was an accident involved and the driver had no insurance, then that driver would have to pay for the damages and injuries themselves. This could be a huge financial burden for many people considering the high cost of car repairs and medical bills.

And not to mention, after all these things that can happen when driving without insurance, they may also have a much more difficult time trying to find insurance after they were caught not having insurance. Many insurance companies will see that the driver had missed payments with his last insurance company or that he never paid on time so they had to cancel his policy, and will refuse to insure his vehicle.

Driving without insurance is very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. It may be a little difficult for some people financially to come up with money each month to pay for their insurance, but it is much more difficult to come up with thousands of dollars to pay for fines, medical bills, and car repairs. This just gives drivers a little something to consider before stepping into their vehicle.

If you have been caught or accused of driving with no insurance, you must have a legal representative. It can be tempting to cut costs and represent yourself but if you are not an expert in road law you will undoubtedly wind up making things worse for yourself. For an experienced and reliable road law specialists click on no insurance
