If you go out and get a car which you intend to drive around you will have to get insurance for it. Car insurance can be fairly expensive, and as a result many people will often ignore their insurance obligations and will instead drive around as uninsured motorists.
However, this is certainly not the most advisable thing to do the several reasons. The first is simply that it is illegal to drive without car insurance. If you are caught without insurance you can be punishable under the law. Most minor offences will simply lead to fines and penalties, but if you continue to flout the law on a regular basis you can have your licence taken away and may even face jail time as well.
Of course, in addition to this there are other, potentially more important, reasons to get car insurance. Auto insurance is simply set up to give people peace of mind when they are driving. It is intended to allow people to focus on their driving without having to worry that any little accident may have will have to be covered by them. The insurance company will compensate you fully and as such you do not have to worry about your finances being crippled.
If you were to get into an accident and you will not insured then you would have to cover all of the expenses associated with this situation. As such, you will need to cover all of the costs that are involved with repairing your vehicle, and if it is completely written off you will have to purchase an entirely new one without any sort of compensation.
Of course, you will not only have to focus on making all of these payments to your own vehicle, but you may well have to make payments towards any other vehicle involved in the collision as well. The costs of repairing vehicles is extremely high and as such this can completely destroy your finances.
However, it actually gets just a little bit better than that. While you will be paying for any costs involved with their vehicles, you may well find that you are also liable to have to pay for all of the costs associated with medical bills as well. If you are injured and you do not have insurance then you have to cover all medical expenses as well.
And of course, these can be extremely high. Yet it will not only be you and your medical bills that you have to cover, but also others who may be involved in the collision and injured as well.
