You must carry at least liability car insurance when you are a vehicle owner in North Carolina. You must also carry continuous coverage as long as your registration is active. When you need you register and title your vehicle you must be able to show proof of North Carolina car insurance. Failure to respond to this letter, could result in losing your license plate for 30 days, then you will have to pay a processing fee, penalty fee, and another license plate fee.
In order to get around from all this trouble, please make sure you stay covered by at least the minimum amount of car insurance at all times.
