Indiana Car Insurance
If you live in Indiana you have the choice of having an Indiana car insurance policy, or showing proof of financial responsibility. The easiest and most secure way to make sure you are financially covered is to purchase an Indiana car insurance policy. If you decide not to purchase an Indiana car insurance policy, you must be able to show proof of financial responsibility. There are several ways you can obtain financial responsibility. You can file a bond of self-insurance, or you can make a cash deposit of $40,000 to the state, to be put in an account for you to use in case you are the cause of an accident, or receive a citation for some reason. Now, if you are fortunate enough to be able to afford your own financial responsibility statement, that may be your best way to go, although, since there is a minimum amount of $40,000 that may not be enough to pay for a terrible accident and medical bills, but there is a cap.
There are all kinds of fees and suspensions that can and might be applied to you if you are caught not abiding by the rules set by the state of Indiana. You must show proof of Indiana car insurance, or proof of financial responsibility if you have a felony out, you had two other moving violations in the past 12 months that put points on your license, or you had your license suspended for not being able to show proof of responsibility. Either way you choose to go, either purchasing Indiana car insurance or a certificate of financial responsibility, the choice is yours. If you fail to show either proof, you are subject to a 90 day license suspension, at the least. You will then have to apply to have your license reinstated and have to pay a hefty fine. The fines and punishments will increase the more you are caught and the more you fail to abide by the state laws.
